Some of the most effective visual effects are the ones audiences never notice. That's exactly the challenge behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where Peter Parker (Tom Holland) begins a new chapter of his life Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios, the film follows Peter as heights crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him, sparks a change in him he may not have the power to control.
SDFX Studios delivered over 400 visual effects shots for the film, working under the leadership of SDFX Studios' VFX Supervisor Yael Majors across our Toronto and Pune studios. From large-scale environment creation to invisible compositing and hero character work, every contribution was designed to support the story while remaining seamlessly integrated into the live-action photography.
The team's work touched many aspects of Peter Parker's world. Artists created full CG buildings and environment extensions, rebuilt practical backgrounds, expanded New York streets and produced custom CG assets ranging from passenger buses and sign age to animated props and architectural details.
Character work formed another significant part of the production. Spider-Man's suit was digitally reconstructed and refined throughout demanding action sequences, while artists performed facial reconstruction, helmet enhancements, wrinkle removal, digital beauty work, wig retouching, wire removals, reflection clean-up and complex compositing that ensured every shot met the exacting visual standards of the franchise.
